Permanent Collections
In one of the rooms is the 'Gabinete Urania', named by Felipe Rivera in honor of Urania, the muse of the universe; there he had his office and today an Altazimuth telescope is preserved there, a gift from the College of San Nicolás and the Government of the State of Michoacán, for having discovered on the night of Sunday, February 24, 1901 the birth of a star in the constellation Perseus, which was given the name 'Nova Persei'. In another room it houses the ivory-key piano of Adela, his wife, several scores of his favorite musical pieces whose authors include Mozart, Francesco Giuseppe Verdi, Domenico Donizetti, among other Italian classics. It is also worth mentioning his vast bibliographic and hemerographic collection, highlighting topics on astronomy, geography, arithmetic, universal history, Mexican history, music, fashion, medicine, and languages such as French, German, Latin and Spanish grammar, among other books.
