En una de las salas se encuentra el “Gabinete Urania”, llamado así por Felipe Rivera en honor a la musa del universo Urania, ahí tenía su despacho y actualmente se conserva un telescopio Altazimut que fue obsequio del Colegio de San Nicolás y el Gobierno del Estado de Michoacán, por haber descubierto la noche del domingo 24 de febrero de 1901 el nacimiento de una estrella en la constelación de Perseo, misma que le dio por nombre “Nova Persei”. En otra sala resguarda el piano con teclas de marfil de Adela su esposa, varias partituras de sus piezas musicales favoritas cuyos autores son Mozart, Francesco Giuseppe Verdi, Domenico Donizetti, entre otros clásicos italianos. También es importante mencionar su vasta colección bibliográfica y hemerográfica destacando temas sobre astronomía, geografía, aritmética, historia universal, historia de México, música, modas, medicina, idiomas como el francés, alemán, latín y gramática española, entre otros libros.
