Recorrido Sala Uno. In this space we explain what sacred art is, its characteristics, where it is located, what has been done to preserve it and the importance of its preservation. The collection includes scale models of the churches and former convents of Mocochá and Conkal, one of the pre-Hispanic burials found during archaeological work near the Conkal temple, evidence of ceramic material in colonial style and Maya pre-Hispanic vessels, as well as an ancient wooden pulley used to draw water from a well and aged Franciscan garments dyed blue. Copies of letters in which the religious figures announced visits to other communities and convents in the region are on display, in addition to a monstrance and chalice used to celebrate Mass on the road. Through a simple interactive game on a large map of Yucatán illustrating distances between convents and viceroyal temples, visitors can calculate the time the friars took to travel from one place to another. Sala Dos. It contains photographic images of San José, San Pedro, San Francisco de Asís, San Miguel Arcángel and the Immaculate Concepción. It shows episcopal gloves of Monsignor Martín Tritschler y Córdova, the mitre of Monsignor Fernando Ruiz Solórzano and the slippers of the episcopal attire of Monsignor Manuel Castro Ruiz. There are wooden replicas of a Marian altarpiece with symbols of the rosary, the towers of David and ivory, the harp, the living water spring, the moon, etc. Sala Tres. Four replicas of 18th-century altarpieces are exhibited. The one dedicated to Christ on the way to Calvary has elements from the original altarpiece of Chumayel, painted dark orange with gold leaf applications. There is another of similar style to the temple of Cansahcab, but with a peculiar painting probably from the late 17th century allusive to Purgatory. Two small altarpieces dedicated to the Dominican friars Saint Dominic de Guzmán and Saint Vincent Ferrer are exhibited. In this space several mural paintings were found. An eye-catching allegory of the sun with a human face stands out. Sala Cuatro. Dedicated to the 19th century, the main neogothic-style altarpiece stands out, which for many years rested in the storerooms of the Meridano temple of Our Lady of Carmen (suburb of Mejorada). It was restored almost in its entirety and most of its characteristic details are preserved, now covered with gold leaf on a sky-blue surface, with floral figures. Three additional images accompany the sacred art piece: one representing Saint Philip of Jesus brought from Cansahcab; another of Saint Agnes, and the remaining one, the Resurrected Christ.
