The museum preserves spaces transformed to recreate Diego Rivera's rooms from his early life at the turn of the 20th century, with period furniture and decor. In the Sala desnudos y dibujos there is a self-portrait and nudes by Frida Kahlo and Dolores Olmedo. The Sala litografías y retratos features works such as La Maestra Rural, Zapata, and Niño en Rojo, a portrait by Rodolfo Gómez, son of collector Marte R. Gómez. In the Sala Paricutín, a permanent display presents a series of watercolors and inks Rivera created during the eruption of Paricutín. The Sala bocetos shows preliminary drawings for the mural Historia del teatro, made at the Teatro de los Insurgentes in Mexico City. The Sala dibujos houses a collection of pencil drawings and inks from various subjects and periods. The Sala de la postguerra displays works from agrarian conflicts in the convention books. The Sala fotomural presents a photographic enlargement of the famous mural Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda, originally located in Alameda Central, Mexico City.
