La Sala Principal has at its center the reconstruction of a mammoth skeleton, the culmination of work by several researchers. The collection also includes various specimens from the Mineral Kingdom, notable for their color and form. There are three stained-glass windows, two of which show mining motifs: "La mĂĄquina de extracciĂłn por fuerza hidrĂĄulica" and "Sistema de bombas en una mina antigua". Sala del Sistema Tierra; Sala de PaleontologĂa, where fossils of invertebrates and vertebrates are exhibited. Invertebrates are ordered by their geologic age following the Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods. Most specimens come from marine fossil beds. Vertebrate fossils are mostly from the Pleistocene, except the dinosaur Pico de Pato and the ichthyosaur, which are from the Mesozoic, and the skull of the dinotherium, from the Tertiary.
