The visual journey through its seven rooms, spread across the ground floor and the mezzanine, centers on major events from the pre-Hispanic era to the 1910 movement, with a 1986 museographic approach. The tour begins with origins, the pre-Hispanic era, and the great Mesoamerican cultures: Teotihuacan, the Maya, Oaxaca, the Gulf cultures and Mexico–Tenochtitlan. Subsequently, the archaeological collection presents the main groups that inhabited the present territory of Sinaloa: Tahues and Totorames. Notable in the display are funerary urns, seals, ornamental objects, and pottery from the sites of Guasave, Culiacán, and Chametla. From the Conquest and Colonial periods, a portion of weapons, shields, and armor is shown. This vast collection was donated by the Redo family, a prominent Porfirian family, when the museum was built in 1958. Independence and the Reform era are covered with documents and graphics of the region's key figures: documents, artifacts and portraits of Eustaquio Buelna, Antonio Rosales, Plácido Vega, and Pablo de Villavicencio. The Porfiriato in Sinaloa is explored with period weapons, mining- related graphics, portraits of figures such as Francisco Cañedo and Heraclio Bernal, and a map of Culiacán from 1908. Finally, in the Revolution room, the cart used by Francisco I. Madero in his anti-reelection campaign for Sinaloa is displayed, along with the uniform worn by Ramón F. Iturbe as the first constitutional governor of Sinaloa, and other weapons and photographs from the region's revolutionary struggle. A small space in the exhibition area is used for mounting temporary regional exhibitions, using storage pieces or loans from private individuals.
