Consta de 11 salas de exhibición, seis de las cuales llevan los nombres de los artistas que exponen permanentemente su obra: Ignacio Barrios Prudencio, Edgardo Coghlan, Vicente Mendiola Quezada, Ignacio María Beteta, Pastor Velázquez y Benito Nogueira. Parte importante de su colección fue adquirida mediante un sistema de donaciones y comodatos; otra parte pertenece a los ganadores del Concurso Nacional de Acuarelas sobre temas mexiquenses, convocado de 1988 a 1993 por la Dirección Estatal de Turismo. En sus instalaciones se llevan a cabo conciertos, conferencias, presentaciones editoriales y cursos y talleres de acuarela.La sala Estado de México muestra las obras premiadas en el Concurso Nacional de la Acuarela, las cuales tratan sobre lugares turísticos y enaltecen el talento mexiquense.la Sala de Donaciones se exhiben las obras de los artistas participantes en el programa “Acuarela del Mes”.
