Permanent Collections
It has five permanent exhibition rooms:
Historical Geography:
Through the cartography of historical events, we have chosen to present the historical memory of our people, located around a refuge place in the Mezquital Valley, that which is found towards the sunset from the Cerro de La Mesa, and very close to the bed of the Salado River, which pours its waters into the Tula River, by using cartographic resources. In the maps we have sought to outline some of the important events marked by archaeologists and historians about ancient Tlahuelilpan.
This space is dedicated to the exhibition that shows the relationship established between nature and geography, allowing an understanding of the characteristics of the territory that form the basis of culture.
With this showcase of various landscapes and cartographies, we refer to the past that reflects the use and exploitation of natural resources that the ancient inhabitants had.
Another aspect that shows the museum's collection refers to life in the municipality, which speaks to us from the archaeological past where we show aspects of daily life whose use continues.
Daily Life:
This room proposes to construct a view of Tlahuelilpan as part of the history and tradition that have marked various generations, as well as the meanings that have brought it to this day.
The tour of this space encompasses the viceroyalty period, during which the construction of the Hacienda de San Servando takes place, and its development as an economic power center, also allowing us to locate ourselves in different time periods.
During the use of the railway known as La Cucaracha and its passage through the Valley of Mexico at the beginning of the 20th century, the story of the agrarian context, traditional cuisine, and crafts of Tlahuelilpan will be woven together, making a link between the past and present to understand the foundations that have built the municipality throughout history and its importance during this period.
