Sala I El Mayab y su gente: Describe la ubicación histórica, el habitat, la lengua y se explica el proceso de poblamiento.
Sala II Entre la montaña y el mar: Se expone la relación del hombre con la naturaleza, así como los resultados culturales de esta relación, a través de estelas, videos, maquetas e ilustraciones.
Sala III El lugar de los tronos y sitiales: Se dedica a la arquitectura, tanto de carácter ceremonial como la estructura urbana de las ciudades mayas.
Sala IV Los hombres del maíz: Se refiere a las actividades económicas que caracterizaron el proceso productivo maya, como: cacería, pesca, recolección, agricultura y comercio.
Sala V En ella se encuentra la explicación del vínculo que simbólicamente establecía el hombre con el mundo. En esta perspectiva se exponen el origen mítico, las costumbres funerarias y la figura axial de la ceiba, que relacionaba el inframundo, el mundo humano y la esfera celeste.
Saala VI La sabiduría de los antiguos: Se exponen los conocimientos que sobre los astros, el tiempo, los números y la escritura desarrollaron los mayas.
Sala VII Los extranjeros: Se explica la presencia de los contactos culturales con otros pueblos, como son: los teotihuacanos, los mayas-putunes y grupos de filiación tolteca.
Sala VIII El ocaso del mundo: La presencia y la actividad de los conquistadores españoles cierra el texto museográfico y da inicio a la vigencia de las profecías que vaticinaron la obscuridad.
