Permanent Collections

Permanent

It features five permanent exhibition rooms: Módulo I. ¿QuÊ es la fotografía? de 85 m²; The etymology of the term photography comes from the Greek phos (light) and graphis or graphos (writing), which means 'to write with light'. Photography is the capture of images on a surface sensitized beforehand. Módulo II. Movimientos sociales de 81 m²; This module gathers images that document a historically significant event, not only for a community or region, but for the country, such as scenes from the Mexican Revolution, as well as various social manifestations. Some images were taken with the explicit aim of documenting a moment; others have become testimonies to our eyes of the 20th and 21st centuries. Módulo III. Vida cotidiana de 50 m²; It can be defined as what happens in our daily existence, i.e., the daily activity carried out by an individual. The daily life of many people that make up a community characterizes an era or place and allows identification, generating traditions and customs, which have been recorded through the photographers' gaze. In this module you will find various images that depict daily activities and the environment in Mexico. Módulo IV. Paisaje de 43 m²; The landscape is the representation of a geographic space. Landscape photography captures the presence of nature, but can also focus on the characteristics or disturbances of altered or artificial landscapes. Many landscape photographs show little or no human activity, in the search for a representation that allows showing not only views of nature but also rural or urban environments, even industrial zones. Módulo V. Experimentación de 57 m²; As its name indicates, this module brings together diverse images that are the result of experiments in the era when they were created, with the idea of reinterpret a space, a moment, a character, or an object, to offer a novel authorial proposal.
