Permanent Collections
It features 13 permanent galleries; In tribute to a man who dedicated his life to Mexican radio broadcasting, there is the Sala consagrada de don Pedro L. DĂaz Pit, who lived from 1907 to 1990 and founded, on July 1, 1937, the XEFQ-980 AM La Voz de la Ciudad del Cobre. The room is designed to replicate the theatre-studio Eduardo C. Gulliver, and its walls display photographs of the era's most famous artists, as well as various notes on the life and work of Pedro L. DĂaz. There is also a room dedicated to the prominent Sonoran politician Lic. Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta, whose walls display photographs from visits to this mining site, as well as his biography. The interior courtyard is used on various occasions to present artistic groups, plays, exhibitions, etc.
Special Exhibitions
Semana Santa, San Juan y DĂa de Muertos: Semana Santa represents the rituals of Holy Weekâs eve and Palm Sunday; San Juan blends religious rituals with popular traditions of pagan origin, associated with water, bonfires, and purification to ward off evil spirits and attract good luck; DĂa de Muertos begins in October with "kontis" (processions) and the placing of crosses. On November 1 the altar is assembled with a tapanco, a wooden structure where offerings such as wakabaki, pinole, tortillas and fruits are placed, symbolizing the connection with the deceased and recalling pre-Hispanic cremations. The celebration includes Latin prayers, songs, matachines dances and vigils in the cemeteries, blending Yaqui ancestral rituals with Catholic influences to honor their ancestors.
