Sala I – A country of flavor; a room dedicated to the intangible heritage of Mexico, specifically to the gastronomy of Mexico and the confectionery that is part of it. Among the interactive features offered to the public is a screen with augmented reality and a puzzle about the states where the alfeñique is produced. Sala II – Ingredients of the past; An interactive space with three robots and a model with audio included, which explain, in a playful way, the history of alfeñique in Mexico and the places in Toluca where it was produced and sold since the viceroyalty era. Sala III – The recipe of tradition; A room with the ambience of an artisanal workshop to prepare alfeñique and sugar skulls. Inside are several screens with a 3D animation that explains the process of making alfeñique, as well as multimedia to learn about the raw materials used to make the traditional sweets prepared in Toluca for Day of the Dead celebrations. Sala IV – The flavor of death; An interactive space dedicated to the Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico. It features a giant skull to place the visitor’s name, an interactive offering that lights up if assembled correctly, a musical wardrobe with catrines and catrinas costumes, as well as a touchscreen displaying the different indigenous offerings of the State of Mexico. Sala V – A tradition shared; A room dedicated to the history and features of the Toluca Alfeñique Fair. Here, visitors will learn how the festival’s sweets are prepared and have the opportunity to set up their own stall.
