Permanent Collections

Permanent

It has seven permanent rooms: Sala 1 – It presents a collection of unpublished plans that illustrate the planning and construction process of some Line 1 stations. Sala 2 – Visitors can admire a selection of photographs from various collections that document construction, inauguration, and the early daily life of the Metro. Sala 3 – Culture Goes Ahead. The STC, in collaboration with the Pascual Cultural Foundation, presents a tour through the history of art from the second half of the 20th century in Mexico, through works by some of the country's most notable artists. We find works by Raúl Anguiano, Alfredo Zalce, Leonora Carrington, José Luis Cuevas, Manuel Felguérez, Vicente Rojo, Vlady, Francisco Moreno Capdevilla, Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Toledo, among others. Sala 4 – An exhibition produced in collaboration with the National Institute of Anthropology and History through the Directorate of Archaeological Salvage. The exhibit Objetos Cotidianos presents the archaeological pieces recovered from the early excavation stages of the STC. The pieces come from various places, witnessing their transformations and the variability observed since its founding to recent dates, from cultural changes to social differences, but with a common denominator: all were recovered from archaeological excavations carried out in connection with the construction of the 12 Metro Lines. Sala 5 – The exhibition is a selection of works from the avant-garde artistic proposal by architect Eduardo Terrazas created for the inauguration of the Metro system on September 4, 1969. Imágen México was the first multimedia exhibition that gathered the multiple portraits of our country; the installation was presented along the stations of the first Metro Line, starting at Glorieta de los Insurgentes. Sala 6 – The exhibition is a journey through the creative process of Lance Wyman that produced the logos, typography and signage of the Metro stations, which today form part of the city's identity. Sala 7 – The history of the Metro is materialized through its ticket collection from 1969 to the present.
