There are four temporary exhibition spaces: Sala Cristina Payan of 283.2 m² located at the museum entrance, a Porfirian-era structure with a tower; Sala Guillermo Bonfil of 658.3 m², originally known as Sala Magna in a building constructed between 1982 and 1983 by architect Santiago de la Torre, two levels with administrative offices above and the large hall named after the founder plus a storage area below; Sala Maria Sabina of 90.8 m², part of the second annex building called Quinta Margarita; Galleries 3 and 4 of 47.5 m², also part of the second building and originally part of the Old Customs House complex later sold to Henderson who built Quinta Margarita.
