Permanent Collections
Como parte del acervo del museo, en la primera sección se puede apreciar cada uno de los detalles y características de la antigua estación de pasajeros, construida para la compañía Ferrocarril Mexicano. En el área de andenes se encuentran las locomotoras de vapor y diesel eléctricas, un autovía inglés, coches de servicio de pasajeros, un carro dormitorio, un coche especial, vagones de carga y un carro expréss en el que se montan las exposiciones fotográficas.
En estas instalaciones se localiza también el Centro de Documentación e Investigación Ferroviarias; unidad encargada de resguardar y conservar los más de 40 mil volúmenes, 86 mil imágenes, 2.5 kilómetros de archivos históricos, 214 mil planos, mapas y dibujos técnicos acerca de la historia de los ferrocarriles en México. Cuenta con un área de servicios y actividades educativas, científicas y culturales; donde están la biblioteca, la ludoteca, el Vagón de la Ciencia, el Vagón de la Radio y la Bebeteca.
Special Exhibitions
El Museo Nacional de los Ferrocarriles Mexicanos cuenta con nueve salas Temporales, en las que se montan exposiciones relacionadas con el ferrocarril, las comunicaciones y la arqueología industrial, así como propuestas de arte contemporáneo vinculadas a las colecciones de este espacio histórico y cultural.
