En sus salas resguarda un acervo de más de 16 mil piezas entre máscaras, dibujos, ollas, terracotas, objetos prehispánicos, tÃteres, exvotos, cuadros, artesanÃas, instrumentos musicales y muebles coloniales. Su colección de máscaras es considerada como la más grande del mundo. Posee también una colección de obras de Diego Rivera, entre las que se encuentra el estudio del autorretrato de Diego niño para el mural Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central, obra que se exhibe permanentemente en el Museo Mural Diego Rivera, en la ciudad de México.
