Features 10 permanent exhibition rooms: El Oratorio (the bishop's domestic chapel) hosting an oil painting of the Virgin of Guadalupe by Francisco Vallejo (1783); Primeros pobladores: Petroglyphs and material remains recovered during archaeological excavations of hunter-gatherer groups in the region; El Virreinato: Objects illustrating mining, agricultural and pastoral colonization of the Nuevo Reino de León during Spanish rule, including a sword and a morion helmet belonging to Governor MartĆn de Zavala (1625-1664) and an oil portrait of the viceroy, Duke of Linares, painted by Francisco MartĆnez in 1723; Evangelización: Objects of worship and religious images from Franciscan missions. From the vanished convent of San AndrĆ©s, including a baptismal font, a large sabino beam, and a stone carving of Saint Domingo de GuzmĆ”n; Independencia: Oils and various personal objects of Fray Servando Teresa de Mier, Bernardo GutiĆ©rrez de Lara and Santiago de Villarreal, notable figures of the era, among which stands out the printing press arrived with Fray Servando on the Francisco Javier Mina expedition in 1817; La defensa de la soberanĆa: The US invasion and the French intervention had dramatic moments in Nuevo León. In this room a powder magazine from the Battle of La Angostura, bayoneted rifles used by the Galeana Hunters Battalion in the execution of Maximilian, and a flag of Mariano Escobedo are displayed; Nuestros caudillos: Among the most important regional figures of the 19th century are Santiago Vidaurri, Francisco Naranjo and Jerónimo TreviƱo, notable politicians and military leaders of Nuevo León. From JosĆ© Eleuterio GonzĆ”lez, a physician and philanthropist, a collection of surgical instruments belonging to JosĆ© Eleuterio GonzĆ”lez, as well as objects from the state's pioneering factories; El Porfiriato: The display of clothing and various objects alludes to the development and modernization of Nuevo León during the administration of General Bernardo Reyes, which promoted the region's industrial rise. A convertible carriage used by Porfirio DĆaz during his visit to Monterrey is on display; El Desarrollo de la industria: This room marks the industrial beginnings of Nuevo León: the CuauhtĆ©moc Brewery established in 1890; Monterrey Iron and Steel Foundry established in 1900; Cementos Hidalgo in 1905; and Vidriera Monterrey in 1909; Arquidiócesis: In this room the imposing portrait of Fray Rafael JosĆ© Verger, oil on canvas by Juan de Alzibar in 1784, is displayed; personal objects that belonged to Bishop Verger and beautiful sacred art pieces are shown; and the creation of the Diocese of Linares and the construction of the Palace of Nuestra SeƱora de Guadalupe is described.

The museum is complemented by two temporary exhibition spaces: Cloister of the Museum (1024 m²). In this space materials partially resistant to the outdoors are exhibited, though it is roofed. Multipurpose (100 m²). Space located on the ground floor, not accessible.
