Permanent Collections
The museum is divided into five salas: En la primera sala you will find a botica and serigrafías created by Felguérez; In la sala indígena, musical instruments, clothing, embroidery, masks, and other objects used by the Huichol people are exhibited; The largest sala is devoted to las haciendas of Valparaíso; there you can see photographs, weapons, farming tools, and items of daily life; In la sala de arqueología there are lithics, ceramics, anthropomorphic figures, zoomorphic figures, shells, bone and shell necklaces, and objects found as offerings in shaft tombs at the La Florida archaeological site. One of the most important pieces in la sala is a polychrome vessel with cloissoné decoration. There are also axes, mazos, metates, raspsadors and polishers. In la sala paleontológica the jawbone of a mammal from the Quaternary period, found at Arroyo del Coyote, southeast of the city stands out. The remains of a mastodon and fossils of marine animals are also on display.
