El Museo Soumaya Plaza Carso cuenta con un discurso museográfico distribuido en seis pisos:
La primera planta exhibe piezas de oro y plata. Por primera vez se mostrará la colección más importante de monedas virreinales en México.
Piezas de cerámica, concha y piedra de arte mesoamericano se exhiben en la segunda planta. La muestra es un comodato con el INAH y la integran piezas del Occidente (Nayarit, Colima, Jalisco y Guanajuato).
La tercera está dedicada a los antiguos maestros europeos y maestros novohispanos.
El paisaje es el tema de la cuarta planta, con obras de artistas viajeros. Ofrece un recorrido por el México independiente, reconstruido a partir de piezas como relicarios, objetos de devoción, retratos, modas y artes aplicadas.
El quinto nivel está dedicado al siglo XX. Aquí el público puede observar un diálogo entre el arte europeo y el mexicano. En este piso se pueden apreciar obras de Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros y Dr. Atl, así como de Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí y Pablo Picasso.
En el sexto piso permanecerá la muestra La era de Rodin, con esculturas del impresionista francés, considerado estrella de la colección.
