El museo está compuesto por dos salas: Cihuatecólotl (Mujer Tecolote) y Colhúa (Hombre de Hombros Anchos), nombres que, según el relato fundacional, dieron origen al pueblo de Epazoyucan.
Algunos de los objetos exhibidos datan de la prehistoria, como raspadores y percutores tallados en basalto; otros corresponden a la época preclásica y teotihuacana, por ejemplo, figurillas y una aplicación de barro representando un caracol. Asimismo, la colección está conformada por piezas de las zonas arqueológicas de Tenango y Mesa de San Marcos; malacates, navajas de obsidiana y figurillas representativas del periodo de la dominación azteca, así como figurillas y cerámica de la época colonial.
El público visitante también podrá apreciar imágenes de las actividades económicas —desde la antigüedad hasta nuestros días— de la zona, tales como la explotación de obsidiana, de pencas de maguey y la fabricación de textiles.
