Museum Exhibitions
Permanent Collections
This space has six permanent exhibition rooms: 56 pre-Hispanic vestiges were found in the municipality's key archaeological zones; it includes an interactive touchscreen and a projection that complements information about these artifacts. Additionally, one of the jail conyugal visit cubicles has been preserved, featuring a stained-glass window and two pairs of shoes. Sala 2.– Españoles: In this room two pieces are exhibited: a facsimile of a Spanish helmet and a portrait in oil on canvas of Hernando de Martell. Sala 3.– Santa María de los Lagos: It houses a facsimile of the founding act of the Villa de Santa María de los Lagos; the room is decorated with the city landscape on the walls and at the entrance to the next room there is a wall carving left by one of the prisoners in 1904. Sala 4.– Virreinato: In this room 22 pieces representing Lagos during the Viceroyalty are exhibited: wooden polychromed sculptures, portraits of religious images and objects of daily use. There is a stained-glass window on the floor of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, an interactive resource with four touch screens and an LED screen that transmits a video about the citys religious events. Sala 5.– La Reforma: Exhibits four portraits of illustrious figures of this era: Ignacio Zaragoza, Benito Juárez, José Rosas Moreno and Agustín Rivera. Sala 6.– Independencia: This room features 11 pieces: a portrait of Juan Pablo Anaya, a portrait of Francisco Primo de Verdad, a portrait of Rita Pérez de Moreno, a portrait of Miguel Hidalgo, two portraits of Pedro Moreno, two portraits of Miguel Leandro Guerra, a Monumental Flag, a Tricolor Flag and an Expeditionary Tricolor Flag.
