Museum Exhibitions
Permanent Collections
Permanent exhibits: The Astronomy Terrace features two telescopes: one solar, for direct observation of the Sun, with no risk to sight; and another for nighttime observation of the Moon and other celestial bodies. Both are mounted on electronic devices that instantly locate the celestial bodies and can connect via fiber optic to the dome, so that a larger number of people can appreciate astronomical phenomena such as an eclipse. The telescopes can also be dismantled for transport to different locations, as happens during the Night of the Stars and other outdoor events outside the planetarium. In the Universe Hall, 11 interactive setups allow exploration of the mysteries of the cosmos and nature. It also includes a workshop area and a playroom where girls and boys can engage in hands-on science activities. In the Forum Under the Stars, with capacity for 60 people, book readings, cultural events and moonlit concerts can be held, and in the Equinox Patio you can observe stars with the naked eye, in the same way the ancient Maya did, with a sound presentation of the deep astronomical and mathematical knowledge of the Ah Kin, astronomer-priest who discovered, among other things, the orbits of the planets and invented the concept of zero, not only as a representation of the empty set but also as the end of a counting sequence or period of time.
