The museum features 15 permanent rooms, in addition to the works by the Zacatecan painter and sculptor Pedro Coronel; universal art from various eras is exhibited with pieces from Egypt, Greece, China, Japan, Italy, India, as well as works by Picasso, Dalí, Miró, Goya, Chagall, and others. It also houses the Historical Library Elías Amador, which contains a collection of more than 20,000 volumes from the 16th to the 19th centuries and an interesting collection of Zacatecan numismatics.
